In case of obstructive jaundice that develops when the stones in the gallbladder fall into the bile duct, the biliary tract must be cleaned first. For this, a procedure called ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) is applied. In the ERCP procedure, a flexible tube with a camera at the end is advanced to the duodenum and the bile duct is cleaned with the help of special instruments. Gallbladder surgery can also be performed after waiting for one night after this procedure. If ERCP cannot be performed for technical or logistical reasons, these bile ducts must be surgically cleaned. Mild pancreatitis may develop sometime after ERCP but often resolves in a short time. Despite the presence of this risk, ERCP is necessary in the presence of gallstones.    _cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf139458dbb3cc781905
